Edmonton Folk Music Festival

January 21st, 2010 Val No comments

Edmonton is a very attractive city in Canada but little known by tourists. Located north of the city of Calgary in the State of Alberta, is a very interesting tourist destination by allowing you to discover a very beautiful and less crowded compared to other Canadian cities such as Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver.

The city is located in a region called Edmonton’s River Valley which represents the largest grouping of parks throughout the Americas in your area that is 22 times the famous Central Park in New York. You will find several places to camp and various services to guide and visit the most attractive parts of the region. Much of the city has bike trails and hiking trails with a total of 235km of tracks that includes Waskahegan Walking Trail.

At the heart of Edmonton is an area dedicated to the culture called Downtown Art District near Churchill Square. There you will find among others the Francis Winspear Center for Music is considered one of the best salsa concerts across Canada. You are also several theaters such as the Citadel Theater, theater, Old Strathcona and the University of Alberta that hobble very actively participates in the cultural life of the city with several places for musical events.

Even for travelers who want to know more about the founding of the city, its history and evolution I recommend visiting one of the museums in Edmonton. The Fort Edmonton’s Park located on the River’s Valley is probably one of the largest museums in Canada’s history with reconstructions and a very impressive collection of objects. We also recommend that the Royal Alberta Museum has a collection of more than 10 million items of cultures present before the arrival of Europeans.

The city also offers tourists various festivals and celebrations throughout the year. You can not lose the Edmonton Folk Music Festival is one of the most famous music festivals in North America or one of the many contests that are the best rodeo cowboys in the international sports circuit.

The city of Edmonton has an international airport which receives flights arriving from all major international destinations. If you want to travel to the capital of Alberta, find cheap tickets to major cities in Canada such as Montreal or Toronto. Then you can choose one of the many cheap domestic flights to get to Edmonton and explore the sights of the area.

The most famous singer from the Disney factory is expelled from the list of Grammy nominees.

The Grammys are an irrefutable manner, the most important awards of the musical sphere. All great artists worldwide have one or more of these prized awards that is comparable to the Oscars of the music. The award ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 31 January 2010.

Miley Cyrus probably will not attend. What remedy? A 17 year old artist better known as Hannah Montana will have withdrawn the nomination for a Grammy as “Best Soundtrack”. The lists came about a month ago and chose Miley for that prize along with other composers of film music. Well, this Friday, and totally by surprise, the jury decided to disqualify the Grammys and they have released this past weekend.

The problem is, according to the jury, which is a totally insurmountable standard that the song in question, in this case ‘The Climb’, had been composed exclusively for the soundtrack of the film “Hannah Montana: The Movie “and, apparently, did not. In a statement sent by the American Academy of Music adds that these “mistakes” do not usually happen, because there is a very thorough and full control of filter candidates before they become official, but in such cases should be proceed with a change of nominee.

The new lucky is Karen O, who has composed the soundtrack of an audiovisual jewel that is currently in the charts of our country, “Where the Wild” by Spike Jonze. The soundtrack has been praised across America a few weeks of the premiere of the movie and now opts for a Grammy.

But Karen O does not have it all won because we have such worthy competitors such as Grammy Bruce Springsteen for the song ‘The Wrestler’ for Aronofsky film “The Wrestler” and Jai Ho, who won an Oscar for the song central “Slumdog Millionaire.”

The singer’s song ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall’ has been chosen as the anthem of the climate summit in Copenhagen.

The UN will launch a live version of Dylan’s song after the convention. Also, include pictures taken by the environmentalist photographer Mark Edwards, who has inspired many of the lyrics to the songs of the singer.

The editor of the major publication Rolling Stone, David Fricke, said that the election is only a sample of the importance of the lyrics of Bob Dylan.

The song was released in 1962 just days before the missile crisis in Cuba in the Cold War, so it is said the song was inspired by the event. However, the letter, which speaks of the war, destruction and injustice still continues and becomes more and more sense with the destruction of the planet.

November 23rd, 2009 Val No comments

The short fall he suffered last night Jennifer Lopez at the gala of the American Music Awards went unnoticed during the broadcast of the event, but today was played over and over again by television and Internet media.

Lopez, a 40-year-old mother of twins, participated last night in Los Angeles in the thirty-seventh edition of Awards American Music Awards (AMA), where she performed her song “Louboutins.”

She came on stage, imitating a boxing ring, dressed as boxers do before a fight, with a satin jacket and hood. Getting into the ring, took off his jacket to reveal a dress similar to the Roman gladiators.

At one point, the singer went up one by one onto the backs of the dancers, and jump down her legs failed her. The fall lasted a split second, as she quickly recovered and continued her dance.

During the broadcast of the event no one noticed the slip, but today the nine-second clip that recounts her fall is among the most viewed on the Internet.

The gala of the American Music Awards was held last night at the Nokia Theater, and the hero was the late Michael Jackson.

The “King of Pop” was nominated this year for three awards that dominated during the 80s, which got a score of awards, 10 of them in 1984 for his album “Thriller”.

At the gala said her sister, Janet Jackson, with hits like “Miss You Much,” “What have you done for me lately” or “If”.

Meanwhile, pop star Shakira performed “Give It Up to Me” her new single from “She Wolf”.

Latinos were very much present at the gala, which was heard speaking in Spanish to the Colombian model and actress Sofia Vergara and also took the baseball player Alex Rodriguez home.

The Spice Girls Going For A Gold Medal?

November 17th, 2009 Val No comments

The British media has dropped the bomb: The Spice Girls will open the London Olympics concert in 2012. Yes, the quintet of hot girls is together again to perform at the opening gala, more than two million people is expected to attend.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has already said for months: “Our Olympic Games will be spectacular. The music and culture will be very important” My question is this: are the Spice Girls really the most significant of England? Would they have picked someone else? We believe that Victoria Beckham is already thinking about the outfit she will wear on her night of glory …

Hopefully the five will be better than in 2007, when they landed in Madrid for a more than kitsch concert. Here I leave you with a video of Posh giving it all.
